Peru is a South American country that encompasses a section of the Amazon rainforest and Machu Picchu, an ancient Inca city high in the Andes. The region around Machu Picchu, including the Sacred Valley, the Inca Trail, and the colonial city of Cuzco, is rich in archaeological sites. On the arid Pacific coast of Peru is Lima, the capital, with a preserved colonial center and important collections of pre-Columbian art.

Cusco is recognized as the "Archaeological Capital of America". The ancient capital of the Incas is a place full of archaeological sites, museums, temples, etc. There you can see the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, Qoricancha, Qenqo and Tambomachay. This ancient Inca city is one of the most precious treasures in Peru. It was built in the middle of the 15th century by the Inca Pachacuteq . Its name means old mountain, and refers to the place where it is located, at about 2453 meters above sea level, on a rocky mountain.The truth is that Machu Picchu is one of the greatest symbols behind what was the impressive architecture and engineering of the Inca Empire.

The Inca Trail is considered the best trek in South America. It is a 43 km route through ancient Inca trails to Machu Picchu. The Incas covered much of the South American continent. To maintain communication in such a vast territory it was necessary to build a network of roads to connect the empire. these roads or paths where of great need, some roads also went from Peru to Bolivia and other parts of south America.

The Sacred Valley is one of the most important destinations in South America. It houses beautiful traditional towns settled since colonial times. There the Incas built ancient citadels such as Pisac, Ollantaytambo, and Chinchero. They also cultivated diversity of agricultural products on terraces such as the beautiful Moray. Today, all these places are very attractive for visitors around the world.

The Mountain of Colors, also called Vinicunca or simply ‘rainbow’ mountain, is one of the new and best attractions in Peru. Located more than 100 kilometers from the city of Cusco, on an altitude summit located at 5,200 masl. It is a mountainous formation tinged with various shades product of the complex combination of minerals, which make these beautiful colors look like a rainbow.

In the heart of the Cusco Andes, in the district of Ocongate, a majestic Mountain that looks imposing over the rest of the mountains that make up the Cordillera of Vilcanota. With its 6384 masl, Ausangate is the fifth highest mountain in Peru and is the most representative of the region. Its size is such high that it can be seen even from the Sacsayhuamán Fortress, close to the city of Cusco.
