We have received a voluntary dentist from Germany called Sylva Götschl. Volunteer dentist, Dr. Sylva Götschl arrived to work with us from Germany. She is a woman eager to work to help people. She has many stories as a volunteer dentist in Africa and Romania, where she usually goes. This was her first visit to Peru and we were very happy to have her in our country.
Dr. Götschl stayed for two weeks at the clinic, where she had the opportunity to see many children and adults with limited resources. As a volunteer dentist, she was pleasantly surprised at the dental equipment and dental supplies she used to carry out treatments, including those of highest donated and imported from Europe from our sponsors.
Dr. Götschl also joined us for presentations at schools to give oral health education instructions. Our volunteers learn about the general health and dental issues the people of Peru suffer from. The lack of education and policy to regulate sugar consumption of the Peruvian people, especially children can be seen during these school and clinic visits.
Dr. Sylva is now back in Germany sharing about our project to her colleagues. We look forward to receiving more volunteer dentists, hygienists and dental assistants in the future.
