Independence is very important for a sustainable and successful support of individuals, so that they can be able to feed their families successfully. We are always very happy to support and accompany such projects. Because we are happy when the people involved can stand on their own feet.
In collaboration with our Swiss Fair Trade trader "El Tucan," women in and around Cusco produce knitwear from alpaca wool and then sell it on markets in Switzerland. This important income enables these single mothers to work from home, and generate an income that is essential in supporting themself and their families.
We provide interest-free microloans to committed Andean people so that they can start their own guinea pig or trout farms. This allows them to be self-sufficient and to feed their families. The step into self-employment through a microloan is a successful instrument to enable people to sustainably provide for their own standard of living.
